FAQ
Pre-launchFrequently asked questions
The answers below describe the product as it is today, in pre-launch.
What is Expaly?
A financial assistant that makes your Israeli statements readable in your own language. It consolidates your transactions, identifies the merchant behind a label, files them, detects what comes back every month, flags what changes or falls outside the ordinary, and answers questions about your own data.
Is Expaly a bank?
No. Expaly holds no money, opens no account and is not a financial institution. It is a tool for reading and understanding accounts that stay with your bank.
Can Expaly make transfers?
No. No function in the product moves money: no transfer, no payment, no direct debit, no cancelling a subscription on your behalf. Expaly reads and explains.
Why are some transactions unreadable in my bank app?
Because the label you receive was written for a system, not for you: abbreviations, truncation, legal entity instead of the shop name, financial Hebrew, standing-order codes. That is exactly the problem Expaly addresses.
How does Expaly identify a transaction?
It starts from the original label, never altered, and proposes a reading: real merchant, category, membership of a recurring series. That reading arrives with its confidence level and the rules version that produced it. When it isn't reliable, Expaly writes "merchant not identified" rather than guessing.
Does Expaly detect subscriptions?
Yes. It picks out series — same merchant, same order of magnitude, same rhythm — and proposes the matching subscription with its amount, its frequency and its next date where known. You confirm it or dismiss it.
Can it warn me if a subscription goes up?
Yes. A recurring amount that changes raises an alert naming the merchant, the old amount, the new one and the gap in percent, with a link to the operation concerned.
Can I correct a merchant?
Yes, and it's designed for. Every reading can be confirmed or corrected from the operation's record, and Expaly remembers your correction for next time.
Can I ask questions about my spending?
Yes — about your spending over a period, your recurring payments, your subscriptions on the rise, your unusual operations and your bank fees. Answers are computed on your data by deterministic engines; when a question is beyond what the assistant can resolve, it says so.
What is Household mode?
A household is a financial space shared by two included adults, each with their own access and their own role — owner, co-manager or viewer. The household is also the isolation unit: nothing is readable from one household to another. An extra member costs 10 ₪ per month.
How much does Expaly cost?
Solo at 49 ₪ a month for one adult. Household at 69 ₪ a month, two adults included, then 10 ₪ a month per extra member. No permanent free plan. Trial and billing terms will be published when the product opens commercially.
Is my data private?
Isolation is carried by the household at the database level, logs mask sensitive values, imported files are stored under opaque keys, and to date no financial data is sent to an external language model. The Security page details what is in place and what is not yet.
Which banks will be supported?
We name no institution before verifying real support. The synchronisation layer exists in the architecture, but no Open Banking connection is live to date, and announcing a list of banks would be a promise we cannot keep.
Which languages does Expaly work in?
The site and the product exist in French, English and Hebrew, as well as Spanish and Russian. Hebrew is a real right-to-left layout, not right-aligned text.
When will Expaly be available?
The product is in pre-launch and opens gradually. We don't publish a date we cannot guarantee: the waiting list is how you get told when your turn comes.
